The Fear In The Clear Bottle

Bottled water is one of those products that succeeds by insulting the human nervous system. It sells itself as purity, but what people are really buying is distance: from tap water, from municipal systems, from the faint suspicion that the ordinary world is not fully under control. The bottle is less a container than a portable reassurance charm.

What is funny, and a little sad, is how quickly “convenience” becomes a worldview. We will pay to move water in plastic from one place to another, then carry it around like a tiny private victory over inconvenience, thirst, and maybe reality itself. The tap asks for trust. The bottle asks for surrender—with a lid.
